The general manager of the Salem Seraphim has been fired, literally. The former executive was consigned to the nether regions, which are characterized by weeping and gnashing of teeth. This seems harsh, but when you consider his offenses, it may have been too lenient. What did he do?
He put Corbin Carroll on the VIL for July! Salem’s best hitter is not available to them for a full month! In attempting a defense for his nefarious actions. the GM cited an injury to Carroll’s hand, caused by a pitched ball. The result was a “chip fracture” and Carroll was supposed to be on the IL for at least a month, maybe two, he said.
It’s been only two weeks, and Carroll is already back in the lineup for AZ, hitting well as usual. But not for the Seraphim, who have to wait until August to reactivate him! So the head Seraph followed the example of Paul, cited in 1 Timothy 1:20.

I’m confused. I Timothy 1:20 says” “Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.”
1. Which of these gentlemen was your GM?
2. Was their offense blasphemy or mismanagement? Or maybe something from earlier in Chapter 1, like “teaching false doctrines”?
Or “devoting themselves to myths and endless genealogies”? Or slave-trading? Or meaningless talk? (Yikes! All these sound a little bit like fantasy baseball.)
Or… (yikes again) “wanting to be teachers of the law”? (I’ve spent four decades not only wanting to be a teacher of the law, but actually doing it.)
I confess I have never attended nor attempted a Bible study on I Timothy 1:20. I may not understand it.
None of the above. The example was the penalty of handing someone over to Satan as punishment for grievous offense.
Ah. How this affects your efforts to find a new GM will be interesting to observe.
So my thorough enjoyment watching Carroll strikeout 4 times (in 4 at-bats) against the Royals was totally wasted, at least as far as the Dragons are concerned. But as a Royals fan it worked out just fine.
