Weekly Defensive Performance

Defense performance for an individual player is measured by “defense points:”

• • Defense Points = Plate Appearances (PA) * Defense Rating at the position played

The minimum requirement for a team is 3.1 plate appearances per game at each defensive position. If your team does not meet the minimum, replacement players are called in to make up the difference, at their (poor) defense rating level. After replacement PA have been accounted for, the team’s net defense rating is calculated for each position using this formula:
