Friends:
I have waited more than long enough to get my questions clarified from Baseball Prospectus, our source for salary cap data. They have not responded, so we will use their published data despite the ambiguities it leaves us with.
BP lists the 15th highest projected opening day salary as the Padres, at $164,538,554. They list the 16th team as the D-Backs at $143,085,286. The hypothetical 15.5th team between those two would come in at $153,811,920. 75% of that is $115,358,940. This rounds off to $115,250,000. That is our 2024 Opening Day Salary Cap which will constrain us next off-season.
For our next draft we will add our first monthly boost of $750,000. So your salary cap at the next draft and through May is $116,000,000.
